Interior design trends for 2021

Its time to look to 2021 and after the ordeal of 2020 ( I know it hasn't ended and we still have 6 weeks left where anything could happen - and probably will!)

So I thought it was time to look forward and see what the best dressed home of 2021 will be sporting............

Key Trends

Sustainability and well sourced materials are going to be a key features in products. Designers are already using reusable and low impact materials to create their pieces and these ideas will be filtering down to high street designs and products.

Colours

Initially I believed the colour of 2021 would be variations on the colour blue with Benjamin Moore's aegean teal Farrow & Ball have gone with a couple of blues, my favourite being their pitch blue. However, Dulux have bucked this theory and gone with a colour call brave ground, and Graham & Brown has chosen a deep plum with epoch. Greys will form the link between 2020 and 2021 providing a cool neutral colour to highlight the above accent colours.

Modern Rustic

Addition of flea market or ebay finds will add a touch of old to modern kitchens, favourite curios from Granny and old/antique toys will add interest to contemporary bookshelves or coffee table accents.

Neutrals with natural elements

Neutral colour schemes are still a focus for interiors, providing a relaxing, welcoming living environment. Bringing nature into the home with plants and organic materials may be due to the time we have all had to spend in the home during lockdowns this year.
