Low tide

The wolf moon has given an extremely low tide here today - which meant we have further to walk to get to the sea - so much more time on the sands. It’s very cold with spots of rain and that has kept everyone else away - the whole area to ourselves is such a treat - the only sounds are from the sea, the wind and call of birds.
Loads of wading birds here today - Oyster catcher, Redshank and Curlew competed with the gulls at the waters edge. Turnstone fly in small flocks, low over the sands as we walked closer only to drift and land a few meters further on, then have to fly again - it was a slow game of tag between us and them. With Ringed plover running hither and thither all over the freshly exposed sands like some mad toy maker had set off numerous wind-up toys.
